is New Zealand's most experience urethane foam applicators. With many unique properties, sprayed urethane foam insulation has solved many problems and challenges for clients in the past.
What is Sprayed Urethane Foam ?
Urethane Foam is produced using specialised mobile equipment which combines two chemicals to produce a lightweight rigid insulating material. The speed of the reaction of the two chemicals can be modified to allow the foam to be injected into cavities or sprayed directly onto vertical or horizontal surfaces.
Sprayed urethane foam will adhere to almost any clean dry surface. The modern high capacity equipment used by BPM makes this process fast and efficient.
What are the insulating properties of Sprayed Urethane Foam ?
Sprayed Urethane Foam offers higher insulating properties than any other commercially available materials.
Advantages of using Sprayed Urethane Foam:
- Strength: The lightweight rigidity of the finished product actually adds strength to the structure being sprayed.
- Conformation: Because the foam is sprayed directly onto the structure, it conforms to the building and no formwork is required.
- Converting Existing Buildings: Sprayed Urethane Foam is especially suitable for converting existing conventional buildings for temperature controlled storage of any type.
- Quick Installation: Because sprayed urethane foam cures in seconds, the build time and construction are greatly reduced over traditional methods.
- Accessibility: Sprayed Urethane Foam can be easily sprayed on vertical and inverted surfaces.
- Life time barrier: Urethane foams form a continuous monolithic air barrier that remains for the life of the building.
Who can use Sprayed Urethane Foam ?
The NZ Apple and Pear Board have used sprayed urethan foam to insulate all the coolrooms they have built since 1976, a total of over 250,000 m2 of insulation. In addition many individual Apple and Kiwifruit growers have used it to insulate their own coolstores.
The unique properties of Sprayed Urethane Foam has also been used extensively in:
- Coolstores
- Mushroom Growing Rooms
- Timber Kilns
- Controlled Atmosphere Rooms
- Freezers
- Potatoe Storage
- Piggeries and Poultry Sheds
- Tank Insulation
- Wineries
- Factories
- Duct Insulation
- Film Props and Scenery
Other Applications - Injected Urethane Foam:
In addition to spraying, urethane foam can also be injected. With the chemicals modified to give a slightly slower reaction time, urethane foam can be injected into cavities where it will expand to fill and insulate the space. This method is used widely to insulate such things as:
- Fish holds on ships
- Heat Recovery Systems
- Specialised building panels
- Refrigerated Pipes and Vessels
